We had to make the hard decision on July 1, 2011 to put our wonderful stallion down. He is buried under a shade tree overlooking his pasture of mares.
In 1995, we found our lucky "Star" and he certainly lived up to his name. Though his show career didn't begin until he was an eleven-year-old, Star competed in everything from halter to obstacle, jumping and costume and never let us down. At the AMHR Nationals in 1996, he was awarded Reserve Champion Senior Miniature Horse Stallion and National Champion Amateur Miniature Horse Stallion. He received his Miniature Horse Halter Hall of Fame Award in 1997, a truly proud day for Unicorner Farm.
Phaze 1 Lone Star Rowdy is an own son of Rowdy and though we never had the privilege of seeing his dad, many have told us his heritage is unquestionable. The same trademark Rowdy head and presence he received from his sire are qualities Star consistently passed on to his own get. His unique Texas shaped star (okay, you may need to squint a little) and overo belly spot are features he also passed down.
We love you, Star! The Cornerstone of Unicorner Farm.
This "look-a-like" son of the immortal Rowdy has won multiple Grand Championships and First Places in Halter, Color, Model Refined, and Performance classes! And now he is consistently stamping his type on his foals.
